Nationwide Credit Inc.
Nationwide Credit Inc. is a large collection agency licensed to perform collection operations in all jurisdictions of the United States and territories that require licensing but also has offices in operating in Canada and India. Nationwide Credit Inc. merged in 1995 with American Creditors Bureau, another collection agency, which created one of the largest collection agencies in the nation. Nationwide Credit Inc. is known to use very aggressive techniques and in 1998 agreed to pay a $1 million civil penalty as part of a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission to resolve allegations that the company violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). This is not the first time that Nationwide Credit Inc. has been in trouble for violating sections of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) as the collection agency was also required to pay a $100,000 civil penalty in 1992 for similar violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
Your credit score can become damaged and may prevent lenders from approving you for new credit because federal law grants collection agencies the ability to place derogatory marks on the consumer's report. With low credit scores, even if you are granted to the financing you wish, your interest rate will be high. Among other laws, the Consumer Credit Protection Act gives consent to the consumer to dispute, and potentially remove derogatory items to include charge offs and collection agency marks from your credit report.
My ability to obtain credit and my credit score were being damaged by the numerous charge offs, collections and judgments being reported on my personal credit file. Deciding it was time to do something about it, I attempted to perform credit repair myself by contacting collection agencies similar to Nationwide Credit Inc. in an attempt to negotiate some kind of arrangement with them in order to remove the negative information on my credit report. Dealing with collection agencies like Nationwide Credit Inc. was more time consuming and aggravating than I could have possibly imagined but even worse, none of the collection agencies were willing to work with me and continued to report the damaging information to the credit bureaus. Everyone thinks credit repair is not hard or complex, I quickly learned that was not the case.
I needed results and didn't have the patience or hundreds of hours it was going to take so I contacted Credit Restoration Bureau and they immediately began working to repair my credit. They were able to raise my credit score by deleting various types of derogatory items from my consumer credit file such as late payments, collections, charge offs and judgments (see the letter below). Working with Credit Restoration Bureau was a much more pleasant and worry free experience than I could have hoped for. Each time I received an update from Credit Restoration Bureau, I was delighted to see they were continuing to have a positive effect on my credit score. By the time Credit Restoration Bureau was finished, my scores had all gone up approximately 150 points and I was in the 700s. They had truly given me a fresh start.
Here is one of the update letters I received from the credit bureaus. This one is from Equifax and shows the deletion of three collections. The three collections that were deleted by Equifax were placed on my credit report by a collection agency similar to Nationwide Credit Inc.
